Wilbur Jones

Wilbur Donald Jones, age 86, of Austin, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Meadow Manor Care Center in Grand Meadow. Wilbur was born July 1, 1924 in LeRoy, Minnesota to Curtis and Margaret (Hansen) Jones. On May 15, 1942 he was united in marriage to Margaret Pace in Austin. She preceded him in death on December 23, 1999. Wilbur was a retired employee of Hormel Foods, having worked there for 42 years. He was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Cedar River Archery Club, the Austin Camera Club, and the Knights of Columbus. Wilbur enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography, archery, woodworking, pool (billiards), and square dancing. Survivors include two children, Sherry (John) Grant, Austin, Roy (Diane) Jones, Austin; six grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Peterson, Grand Meadow, Margaret George, Grand Meadow. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward; sister, Emma; great granddaughter, Brooke. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am on Monday, December 27, 2010 at St. Edward's Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. Friends may call from 2-5 pm on Sunday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
