Todd Michael Furtney, age 49, of Austin, died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin surrounded by his family. Todd was born March 27, 1962 in Sioux City, Iowa to Roy and Terry Furtney. He grew up in Waldorf-Pemberton, Minnesota where he graduated from high school. After graduation, Todd moved to Monticello, Minnesota where he worked as a printer. He was an avid fisherman, whether it was on ice or the open waters and was a collector of things you didn't know you needed. Todd was a giver and always smiling and joking. He was the "Live your life out loud" kind of guy who everyone loved being around. Todd often said how he was blessed to be loved by so many people and shared his love for all openly. Survivors include his daughter, Amanda Oaks (Jarod), Maple Lake, MN; two step daughters, Marie Summer and Desiree, Monticello, MN; mother, Terry Hagen, Austin, MN; father, Roy Furtney, Austin, MN; step father, Tim Hagen, Door County, WI; grandmother, Violet Kerling, Austin, MN; two grandchildren, Daimeyn and Dayzie, Maple Lake, MN; siblings, Trisha Reynolds, Austin, MN, Lucy (Marty) Hagen, Egg Harbor, WI, Lance (Laurie) Furtney, Clear Lake, MN, Ted Hagen, Milwaukee, WI, Tiffany (Scott) Shierts, Geneva, MN, Ian Hagen, Austin, MN, Shawn Hagen, Monticello, MN; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed Kerling, Ferris and Marguerite Furtney. Memorial services will be held 3:00 pm on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Pastor Brian Krueger officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Honorary casket bearers will be Rochelle and Chelsie Reynolds, Brennon Randall, James and Cully Shierts, Logan and Kayla VanLith. Arrangements by Mayer Funeral Home.
