Susan Smith

Susan V. Smith, age 70, of Hayward, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, at her home in Hayward. Susan Veronica Sweazy was born in Austin, Minnesota to Lawrence and Donna (Adams) Sweazy on June 7, 1951. She grew up in Austin and graduated from Central High School in Austin. On October 2, 1972, Susan married David Smith at Crane Community Chapel in Austin. The couple lived in Forsyth, Montana for 20 years before making their home in Hayward, Minnesota. In addition to being a homemaker, Susan worked for several years as a nurse’s aide. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Susan loved cooking and her cats. She was kind, loving, helpful, considerate, and was always there to help everyone. Susan will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, David Smith; sister, Terri (Edward) Sletten; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Donna Sweazy.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Faith Baptist Church in Albert Lea, Minnesota - 905 Fairlane Terrace, Albert Lea, MN 56007. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
