Shelley Rose Naatz, age 60, of Kenyon, MN, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024. She passed peacefully with family by her side.
Shelley was born on July 8, 1963, in Rochester, MN to Palmer and May (Merkel) Vicker, the ninth of their ten children. She grew up in Salem/Rock Dell and graduated from Byron High School in 1981. She was an avid bowler and volleyball player. Shortly before graduation, Shelley started at Jennie-O Turkey Store and continued her career there for nearly 40 years. While working there, she met her husband, John Naatz. They were married on August 26, 2000.
Shelley was a fighter, which was evident from her tenacious and courageous fight over her twelve-year battle with cancer. In her spare time, Shelley loved to bake, especially for friends and family. She was also fond of casino trips and dice games. She was always up for a game of bean bags and would find any excuse to get John Hardys. She loved to rock in her rocker while sipping on a Diet Pepsi. She cherished each and every day that she was able to spend with her family.
Shelley is survived by her husband, John; her children, Justin (Margarita Pimentel) Smith and Angela Smith; step-children, Ashley (Justin) Westrum and Adam (Lizzy) Naatz; step-grandchildren, Madison, Lucy, Henry, and Charles; sisters, Judy Vicker, Mary Lou (Darrell) Koch, Sheila Campion (Larry Crowe), and Lisa (Timothy) Lee; brothers, Danny Vicker, Randy (Jill) Vicker, and Leonard Vicker; half-brothers, Arthur (Sharon) Merkel and Gary Lyke; and many other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Palmer and May Vicker; sisters, Sherry Ochocki, and Brenda Vicker.
The family would like to thank the Oncology team at Mayo, especially Dee Smith, for their time and dedicated care.
