Robert “Bob” Dale Finneseth, age 93, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society – Comforcare in Austin. Robert was born on November 25, 1930, in Spring Valley, Minnesota, to Lloyd and Alpha (Rain) Finneseth. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1948. Following graduation, he attended and graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, with his bachelor’s degree in business administration. In November 1952, Bob entered the United States of Army. He served in Korea in May 1953 in the 7th Division as Regimental 32nd Reg. Ordinance Supply Sgt. until his honorable discharge in October 1954. After returning from the Army, Bob worked for Home Federal Saving and Loan Association in Spring Valley and then in Austin until 1958. On April 15, 1961, Bob was united in marriage to Roberta Olson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin. Bob then began working at Osterud Insurance Agency in Austin until 1983. Bob also worked for KSMQ TV in marketing and development, Shaefer Insurance in Adams, First Insurance in Austin, and Sterling State Agency in Adams until his retirement. Bob was very active in the Austin and surrounding communities; he was a member of the Adams Lions Club, Austin Jaycees, Austin American Legion, an Ambassador for the Austin Area Chamber of Commerce, and BPOE. He was also a lifelong member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where he was a member of the choir, and served on the Board of Trustees, was the financial secretary, was the President of Congregation and Men’s Brotherhood, and was a Deacon. He sang in the Northwestern Singers for 40+ years. Bob also enjoyed golfing and fishing trips to Canada. He liked to travel and was an avid sports spectator. Bob was very well known in the community and loved to socialize with all he knew. Bob will be forever missed.
Bob is survived by his wife, Roberta of Austin, Minnesota; two daughters, Karon Rynerson of Mondovi, Wisconsin, and Susan (Werhner) Schlichter of Austin; three grandchildren, Chelsey Rynerson, Caroline Rynerson, and Olivia Schlichter; step-grandson, Jacob Schlichter; and nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Alpha; and brother, Jack (Kay) Finneseth.
