Randy Dean McAlister, age 61 of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin. Randy was born January 7, 1958, to Donald and Delores (Klingfus) McAlister in Austin, Minnesota. He graduated from Austin High School in 1976 and he also received a degree in Mechanics from the Austin Vo-Tech. He worked many years as a welder both for McNeilus in Dodge Center and Tandem in Blooming Prairie before retiring due to poor health. Randy married Kim Kominek on February 2, 1980 in Austin. Kim passed away in June of 1993. Randy then married Shelly Clark on April 1, 1995 at Crane Community Chapel in Austin. The couple had 2 children and later divorced. He loved cars, he grew up helping his dad fix stock cars which sparked his love for mechanics and driving in Demo Derbies. He enjoyed filling his free time fishing, spending time with family and he loved to bowl. He was a member of Crane Community Chapel and bowling leagues. Randy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include two sons, William McAlister of Rochester, Minnesota, and Michael McAlister of Rochester, Minnesota; mother of his sons, Shelly Clark, three sisters Kathy (Simon “Pete”) Hancock of Mapleview, and Julie Wood of Mapleview and Rhonda (Marvin “Marv”) Eckert of Austin; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Delores McAlister; first wife Kim Kominek; step-son Brian Clark; three infant sisters Wanda, Linda and Patty; and brother-in-law John Wood.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Crane Community Chapel in Austin with Pastor Dale Christianson officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin. Memorials are preferred to the family. Services are prearranged and performed with Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
