Orline Peterson

Orline Martha Magdalena Peterson, age 95 of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, Minnesota.  She was born August 9, 1924 in Waltham Township, Mower County, Minnesota to Henry and Magdalena (Prochnow) Ruhter.  Orline attended country school.  On October 29, 1950, Orline was united in marriage to Eldred Peterson at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Waltham, Minnesota.  The couple raised five children.  Orline was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Eldred passed away December 28, 2014. After his death, Orline moved to Field Crest Care Center. She was a life-long member of Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, where she was a part of the church circle, taught Sunday School, and directed the children’s choir. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Orline loved to cook, bake, and quilt. She enjoyed gardening and vegetable gardening, raising chickens from chicks, and taking coffee breaks.  Her greatest joy was spending time with family.  She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by many.

Orline is survived by her children, Gilman (Patricia) Peterson of Dodge Center/Hayfield, Minnesota, Delmar Peterson of Blooming Prairie, JoAnne (Randall) Smith of Hokkaido, Japan, Merlin (Denice) Peterson of Toppenish, Washington, and Rodney (Teresa) Peterson of Owatonna, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Chasper (Charlotte) Ruhter of Rochester, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Adell Ruhter; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Magdalena Ruhter; husband, Eldred; daughter-in-law, Barbara Peterson; three brothers, Lester Ruhter, Gerhardt (Delores) Ruhter, Joseph Ruhter, and Milton (Lois) Ruhter; and granddaughter, Joy Peterson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Hegal officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00(Noon)-1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  Interment will follow at Red Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to recipient of donor’s choice. Services are prearranged and performed by Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home.
