Nancy Ellyn Bauer

Nancy Ellyn Bauer, age 78, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems – Austin. Nancy was born on January 14, 1947, to Floyd and Glen Ellyn (Thompson) Tobar in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She graduated from Austin High School in 1965. Nancy attended some paralegal courses at Austin Community College in Austin. On September 4, 1965, she married Arthur “Art” Walter Bauer at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. The couple were blessed with one son, Brad. Nancy was an incredible mother who dedicated her life to raising her son. She worked for many years as a paraprofessional in the Austin Public School District. She had a special heart for mentoring people with special needs. Nancy enjoyed baking, she loved making cakes for weddings and birthdays, she also made mints for weddings. Nancy enjoyed painting especially on the wood carvings that Art would make; they would bring their art to craft fairs. She also learned how to make ceramic art pieces through various classes. Nancy will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Art Bauer of Austin; son, Brad Bauer of Austin; brother, John (Marcia) Tobar of Austin; many cousins, the closest of whom were: Carliene Pickett, and Mahlon “Lon” and Kay Krueger; and nephew, Jeff Tobar. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Glen Ellyn Tobar; and sister, Susan Gardner.

A memorial gathering for Nancy will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
