Mary “Monica” Johnson, age 104 of Rose Creek Monica Johnson, age 104, formerly of Rose Creek, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Good Samaritan, Comforcare in Austin. Monica was born April 22, 1913, in Austin, to Martin and Margaret (McBride) Reagan. She grew up on a farm in Rose Creek and graduated from Rose Creek High School, she went on to attend Teachers Normal School and became a teacher, and taught all grades in country schools in the area. On January 8, 1951 Monica was united in marriage to Olaf Johnson at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rose Creek. Monica was a devoted housewife and a wonderful cook. She was a caregiver to her mother Margaret, who lived with Olaf and Monica. She was very close to her sister Muriel, they were always together. Monica was involved with all her nieces and nephews, like a second mother, she was also the sweet next door neighbor everyone loved to visit. Monica loved to knit, cross stitch, and had a beautiful rose garden. Survivors include sister-in-law Genevieve Reagan, Austin, MN; nieces, Mary Nelson, Stockton, CA, Patricia (Ron) Dillavou, Rose Creek, MN, Bernadine (Terry) Kantola, Cook, MN, Jean (Tom)Clark, Austin, MN, Teresa (Brian) Bergene, Rose Creek, MN, Cathy (Jim) Colling, Jordan, MN, Joanne (AL) Hall, Plymouth, MN, Sharon Thoen, Omaha, NE, Virginia Reagan, Circle Pines, MN; Sandra Fielding, Austin, MN, Wanda (Jon) Lenoch, Austin, MN; nephews Marty (Ginny) Reagan, Omaha NE, Michael (Sue) Hangge, Arden Hills, MN, John Reagan, Austin, MN, Jerry Bugge, Owtanna, MnDennis Vaughter, Burton, MI She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Olaf in 2000; brothers, John (Adele) Reagan, Bernard Reagan; sisters Muriel (George) Hangge, Catherine Margaret Reagan; niece, Margaret Vaughter; nephews, Marty Thoen and Ron Nelson. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am on Tuesday February 6, 2018 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rose Creek, with Father Dale Tupper officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in St. Peters Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to St. Peters Church in Rose Creek, MN, or the hospice of your choice. Thank you to Comforcare staff for the many years of wonderful care you gave to our Monica.
