Mary Ann Mayer, age 87, formerly of Austin, died Monday, December 27, 2010 at her home in Rochester. Mary Ann was born January 12, 1923 in Stacyville, Iowa to Hubert and Rena (Michels) Miller. On June 25, 1946 she was united in marriage to Eugene Mayer in Stacyville. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2003. Mary Ann and Eugene lived on a farm south of Austin for 21 years then moved to a home in northeast Austin where they lived for 27 years before moving to the Cedars. Then medical issues brought her to Rochester for the last four years. Mary Ann was a homemaker and provided day care for several years. She was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church and 4-H, being active in 4-H for many years with her children. Mary Ann enjoyed spending time with family and friends, was a devoted Twins fan, liked to play cards, bingo, and games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Leanne (Tony) Peters, Plymouth, Elaine (Mike) Noble, Mantorville, Jean Melson (David Evers), LaCrosse, WI; two sons, Jim (Nancy) Mayer, Singapore, Chuck (CeCe) Mayer, Glenville; 10 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; sister, Magdalen (Duane) Judd, Albert Lea; two sisters-in-law, Anna Miller, Austin, Mary Ellen Miller, Cedar Rapids, IA. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter; four brothers, Clarence, Ivan, Victor and Leo. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am on Friday, January 7, 2011 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. There will be a 4 pm CCW rosary and a 6:30 pm wake service on Thursday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4-7 pm and also from 9-10 am on Friday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The casket bearers will be Craig Peters, Andy Mayer, Eric Noble, Tyler Melson, Levi Zahnow, Cody Zahnow and Dominic Noble-Henden.
