Marion Ardell (Hovland) Travetto, age 98, passed away on April 1, 2023, after suffering injuries from a fall. Marion was born in Austin, Minnesota in 1925, and spent her childhood there as the oldest daughter in a family of nine. As a teen, Marion worked at Hormel Foods and eventually moved to Highwood, Illinois where she began her long career working as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell company. She married Reno Travetto in 1948 and together they raised three children. In the early 80’s, Marion and Reno relocated to Lehigh Acres, Florida. There Marion remained active working at Charter Psychiatric Hospital. Following her husband's death in 2002, Marion returned to Austin, Minnesota to be with and care for her siblings. Marion had an extremely positive and optimistic outlook on life. She valued the importance of play and was active exercising, playing games with friends, and working on puzzles. Marion was a avid sports fan. She loved the Chicago Cubs, Roger Federer and the golfer who bears her maiden name; Viktor Hovland. She had a great sense of humor, a loving heart and a caring soul. Marion was independent and strong willed, even driving until her final days. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and was thrilled to have had the opportunity to visit Norway and meet family members with her sisters and daughter, Sue.
Marion was a kind and loyal friend, loving wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her sister, Deanna LeBarron (Bill), Worland, WY; her three children, Sue Travetto, New Windsor, MD, Frank Travetto, Greensboro, Georgia, David Travetto (Janet) Lincolnshire, IL, five grandchildren, Ross Travetto (Jill), Morgan Travetto (Steven), Jonathan Travetto (Samantha), Allison Travetto, and Ryan Travetto; and five great grandchildren; Cole Shoemaker, Luke Shoemaker, Layla Travetto, Sloane Travetto, and Leighton Marion Travetto.
