Louise G. Schmit, 92 of Rose Creek, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Adams Health Care Center. She was born December 29, 1919 in Minneapolis, to John & Amelia (Meisen) Adelmann. She grew up in Minneapolis, where she graduated from high school. On May 10, 1952 she was united in marriage to John T. Schmit in Minneapolis. The couple made their home in Rose Creek for almost 50 years when in 2002 JT passed away. Louise was a member of St Peter's Catholic Church in Rose Creek, and active in their Rosary Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxilary. She worked as a stenographer at Home Trade Shoe Store in Minneapolis prior to her marriage. She was the owner/operator of the Thrift Shop in Rose Creek for 17 years while raising her family. She enjoyed travel, bowling, knitting, embroidery, dancing, and especially playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her son, Richard (Marge) Schmit, Cannon Falls; daughters, Elaine (Mike) Mills, Riceville, IA; Rita (Steve) Knapp, Pine Island; Dianne, Rose Creek; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brother-in-law; sister-in-law; and many relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, JT; two sisters; brother and sister in-laws. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rose Creek with Father Tom Loomis officiating. There will be a 7 pm wake service on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4-7 pm and also one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. The casket bearers will be Josh Mills, Tim Knapp, Andrew Knapp, Jason Jorgensen, Gerald Ruether, and John Schueller.
