Louise Hall, 102, of Austin, died on Friday, April 3, 2015 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin. Louise was born in Pleasantville, Iowa on July 12, 1912 to Lloyd and Leila (Walker) Wall. Her early childhood was in Iowa until she turned 6 and her family moved to North Dakota. Ten years later, when she was 16, they moved to the Austin area. Louise attended Franklin school and graduated from Austin High School in 1930. On November, 18, 1930 Louise married Walter J. Hall in Osage, Iowa. She was a homemaker and raised her children in the Austin area as Walter worked for the George A. Hormel Company. Louise worked many jobs as her children grew older. She worked for different restaurant and diners in the area in addition to being a dispatcher for the Austin Cab Company. Walter died on June 21, 1990. Louise was a member of The Church of Christ; where she served on many committees there. She was a member of the Legion and VFW Auxiliary; where she held state and national offices. Louise was a member and multi-level officer with the Phythian Sisters. She also was a member of a knitting club and a birthday club. Louise volunteered for the American Red Cross for 25 years. She won the Eileen Nierengarter Award for Volunteer Achievement. Louise was a member of the Red Hat Society and helped out at the Eagles Club as well. Louise enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting. She liked keeping her hands busy. More recently, she really enjoyed the amazing turn out of friends and family at her 100th birthday celebration. Louise is survived by her children; Raymond Hall of Reno, Nevada, Doris Lancaster of Minneapolis, Walter “Eddie” (Pat) Hall of Austin, Darrell “Keith” (Shirley) Hall of St. Paul, Kay (Bob) Kahler of Prior Lake, Shirley A. Hall of Hendersonville, Tennessee, James “Jimmy” (Barb) Hall of Las Vegas, NV, Charlie “Chuck” (Jan) Hall of San Diego, California, Dennis Hall of Albert Lea and Karen (Duane) Carlson of Brandon, Mississippi; 44 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren, 34 great-great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Heimer of Sargent. Louise is preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, sons Byron, Ronald, Richard and Duane, sisters Helen, Marian and some grandchildren. Memorials in Louise’s name may be made to the Red Cross. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, April, 7, 2015 at Austin Church of Christ with Dr. Stephen DeFor officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 12 pm until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service at Enterprise Cemetery, rural Austin. Mayer Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Louise.
