Lorraine Marion Winkels

Lorraine Marion Winkels, age 83, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin. Lorraine was born November 21, 1941, in Austin, to Edward and Evelyn (Wallrich) Goebel. She attended Austin schools and graduated in 1959 from Pacelli High School. On November 11, 1961, Lorraine was united in marriage to Paul Winkels at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin, where they were longtime members. Their union was blessed with two sons and a daughter. Lorraine worked for over 38 years in data entry at Hormel. She enjoyed casino trips, snowmobiling, camping, and fishing. However, her greatest joy came from the time spent with her family. Lorraine also loved to dance and cherished her memories of dancing at the Terp Ballroom, where she met her husband, Paul. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children, Brian Winkels of Austin, MN, Stephen (Pam) Winkels of Wausau, WI, and Jeanette (Peter) Kressin of Green Bay, WI; four grandchildren, Allison, Laura, Hannah, and Benjamin; three sisters, Sharon (Phil) Koenigs of New Hope, MN, Mary (Bob) Lau of Duluth, MN, and Linda (Ron) Albrecht of Maple Grove, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Evelyn Goebel; and her husband, Paul in 2021.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. Visitation will take place one hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Austin. Services are prearranged and performed by Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin.
