Lola M. Erickson, age 94, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society - Comforcare in Austin. Lola Mae was born on March 24, 1930, in rural Lyle, Minnesota, to John and Alma (Gordon) Johnson. Lola attended country school and went on to graduate from Austin High School. In May of 1948, she was united in marriage to Walter Erickson at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, and they were blessed with four children. Later in life, the couple divorced. Lola dedicated 16 years as a cook at the Country Kitchen and later became co-owner of the B&E Grill for 10 years. She was known for her love of dancing, dining out, and her famous lefse, potato salad, and brownies. Lola will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Jorgensen of Pierce, NE, LaVonne (Dave) Rushton of Austin, Minnesota, and Marcia Fontana of Austin, Minnesota; son, David Erickson of Owatonna, Minnesota; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her father, John Johnson; mother, Alma Dumdei; son-in-law, Leon Jorgensen; two brothers; and three sisters.
Thank you to the staff and residents at Comforcare in Austin for the outstanding care and friendship over the past six years. The family would also like to thank St. Croix Hospice for their services.
A memorial service for Lola will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin. Memorials are preferred to St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
