LeVerne "Mike" Altenburg, Jr.

LeVerne “Mike” Altenburg, Jr. age 29 of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Saint Marys Campus. Mike was born on March 30, 1990 in Austin, Minnesota, to LeVerne M. Altenburg, Sr. and Tammy Drees. He was baptized at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Mike was a lifelong Austin resident and attended Austin High School. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Austin. Mike loved to work on motors and was always full of energy. He also loved the outdoors, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, loved to go fast, and spending time with his family and friends. He had a large halo with small horns. Mike will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his parents, LeVerne M. Altenburg, Sr. of Austin, Minnesota and Tammy Drees of Austin, Minnesota; three sisters, Tahja Altenburg of Austin, Minnesota, Melanie Worth of Iowa, Melissa Kasten of South Dakota; brother, Andrew Hanson of Minnesota; maternal grandparents, Stephen (Nancy) Drees of Austin, Minnesota; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ione Hedrick and Vernon Altenburg.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
