Leona Walburn

Leona A. Walburn, age 95, of Austin, died Monday, April 11, 2011 at Sacred Heart Care Center where she was a resident. Leona was born July 18, 1915 to Louis B. and Kathryn (Stolzenberg) Ulwelling at their home in Mower County. She attended school at St. John's Parochial school in Johnsburg, Minnesota. Leona married Warren Walburn on May 18, 1946 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2002. Leona was on one of the original women's bowling teams in Austin at the old recreation club across the street from the old courthouse. She enjoyed her family, playing cards and gardening. Survivors include two sons, Richard, Panama City, FL, Ronald, Austin, MN; former daughter-in-law, Janis, Panama City, FL; two grandchildren, Lisa Carey, Panama City, FL, Michael Walburn, Panama City, FL; two great grandchildren, Derek Carey and Trevor Walburn, Panama City, FL. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am on Friday, April 15, 2011 at Mayer Funeral Home with Father Joe Fogal officiating. There will be a 6 pm wake service on Thursday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4-7 pm and also one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Friday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
