LaRayne Jochumsen

LaRayne M. Jochumsen, age 79 of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday morning, May 27, 2019 at her home. LaRayne was born on February 19, 1940 in rural Lyle, Minnesota, the daughter of Otto and Hazel (Means) Lomholt. She grew up in Lyle and graduated from Lyle High School in 1958. On June 29, 1958, LaRayne married Robert Jochumsen in Austin. LaRayne then went on to attend the Austin Vo-Tech, receiving her Medical Assistant Degree. She worked as a nurse’s aide for over 32 years at Good Samaritan Society - Comforcare, St. Mark’s Living, and at Burr Oak Manor. LaRayne was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin. She enjoyed traveling to see her family, loved crocheting, knitting, baking and needlepoint. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Jochumsen of Austin, MN; children, Kevin Jochumsen of Austin, MN, Kellee Jochumsen of Austin, MN, KaLyn Ellis of Seattle, WA, Kendahl Jochumsen of Rochester, MN, Karyn Nelson of Austin, MN, Kerry (Kathryn) Jochumsen of Austin, MN; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister, LaFerne Mangan of Rochester, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Hazel Lomholt; brother, Louis “Bud” Lomholt; sisters, LaVonne Griese, LaDonna Bohn, LaRena Bartholomew, twin sister, LaRaye Anderson; daughter-in-law, Alberta Jochumsen.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be held at a later date. Memorials can be directed to the family. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
