Kristie Ann Steiner, age 56 of Brownsdale, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin, Minnesota. Kris was born July 17, 1963 in Owatonna, Minnesota, to Harold and Armeda “Jean” (Yanzer) Boverhuis. She was raised in Lansing and went to Austin High School, graduating in 1981. On August 2, 1986, she married Kent Steiner at the First United Methodist Church in Austin, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with three sons Matthew, Jordan, and Jacob. Kris worked as a paraprofessional for many years at Hayfield School District. She was a member of the Brownsdale United Methodist Church. Kris loved photographing sunsets and enjoyed watching sports, especially the Minnesota Twins. She found joy in listening to music and was a very gifted vocalist. More than anything, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, including her nieces and nephews, and always attended their events. Kris will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her parents, Harold and Jean Boverhuis of Lansing, Minnesota; husband, Kent Steiner of Brownsdale, Minnesota; three sons, Matthew (Wendy Anderson) Steiner of Brownsdale, Minnesota, Jordan Steiner of Brownsdale, Minnesota, Jacob (Kelliemarie Mash) Steiner of Brownsdale, Minnesota; father-in-law, James Steiner of San Antonio, Texas; siblings, Dawn (Mark) Sutton of Arizona, Bridget (Brad) Sheely of Brownsdale, Minnesota, Chanda (Jeff) Sayles of Austin, Minnesota, Bernie (Tammy) Boverhuis of Lansing, Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, and mother-in-law, Anne Steiner.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at First United Methodist Church in Austin. Retired Pastor Dennis Tamke, Pastor Lisa Vick, and Pastor Bridget Sheely will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
