Kathryn G. Schmidt

A funeral mass celebrating the life of Kathryn ‘Kay’ Schmidt will be held Monday December 5th at 11:00 AM at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. The Reverend Raul Silva will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Schmidt, 89, of Austin, died Wednesday November 30, 2016 at Our House Memory Care in Austin. Kathryn G. Kiefer was born June 13, 1927 in Adams, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Sabel) Kiefer. Raised in Adams, she was a graduate of the public schools there. She then attended cosmetology school in Minneapolis. She married Anthony ‘Tony’ Schmidt on November 12, 1947 in Adams. The couple resided in Austin. A devoted homemaker, Kay enjoyed bowling, playing cards, flower gardening, and time with her family. She was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. She is survived by her sons, Bill (Patty) Schmidt of Austin, Ron (Diane Fuller) Schmidt of Austin, Dave (Cathi) Schmidt of Rose Creek, Terry (Paulette Clark) Schmidt of Austin, and Tony Schmidt of Austin; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003; a son, Randy Schmidt; and her ten siblings. Visitation will be Monday 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
