Karen “Kelly” Dorr, age 59, of Stockton, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 2, 2025, following a brief battle with cancer. Kelly was born on June 14, 1965, in Austin, Minnesota, to her loving parents, Dawnya (Walsh) Day and Monte Hegna. She graduated from Austin High School in 1983. Throughout her life, she had various jobs, including the carnival, manufacturing jobs, and working on farms. Lastly, Kelly made the world a sweeter place for many years as a donut maker at Donut Connection in Austin, where she crafted fresh donuts every morning, spreading happiness to all who walked through the door. Her spunky, energetic personality and zest for life left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Kelly had a deep love for animals, particularly wolves. She enjoyed sharing her generous wolf collection with her family.
Kelly was also passionate about spending time with her family. She enjoyed taking her loved ones to run errands, watching movies together, and having heartfelt conversations. She also loved taking the family to the local deer park, where they created countless memories together, exploring the outdoors and having fun. Kelly’s generosity and giving nature shone brightly in her relationships, always going above and beyond to help others in need.
Kelly is survived by her significant other, Steve Palmquist; parents, Dawnya Day and Monte Hegna; children, Tommy Hegna and Jalissa (Anthony) Dorr; grandchildren, Matthew, Keefe, Madalyne, and Harmony; sisters, Trisha Hegna and Randi (Roy Buck) Hegna; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Tommy’s father, Ricky Hegna, and Jalissa’s father, Gary Dorr.
We will forever hold Kelly in our hearts for her loving spirit, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. She will be dearly missed.
