Judith Johnson

Judith (Judy) Ann Johnson, age 72 of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Saint Marys Campus. Judith was born to Leon and Lucille (Milbrandt) Werner, on March 24, 1948, in Osage, Iowa. She grew up on a farm outside of Meyer, Iowa and lived there until she graduated from Stacyville High School in 1966. Judy then moved to Rochester, Minnesota, where she started working at St. Mary’s Hospital when she met Roger in 1968. In 1969, she married Roger and moved to Austin. For many years she worked as a waitress and in retail. Most people will remember Judy for her many years of working at Hy-Vee in Austin. She was an avid flower gardener and would always have beautiful gardens and many flowerpots overflowing with healthy gorgeous flowers. Everyone that knew Judy, knew her as a kind soul and to be very selfless and was always putting others’ needs before her own. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her most prized treasures and you would be sure to hear about them when you chatted with her. Judy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her mother, Lucille Werner of Mason City, IA; husband, Roger Johnson of Austin, MN; children, Jason (Lyndsey) Johnson of Austin, MN, Jill (Kevin) Jones of Austin, MN; grandchildren, Tyler Lee of Albert Lea, MN, Emily McCarty-Johnson of Rochester, MN, Hannah McCarty-Johnson of Austin, MN, Connor Lee of Austin, MN, Spencer Lee,  Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS, Parker Lee of Austin, MN, Peytyn Johnson of Austin, MN, and Josalyn Johnson of Austin, MN; Emily Jones, of Rochester, MN; great-grandchildren, Leighton Skalicky of Austin, MN, and Silas Ryther-Lee of Austin, MN; sisters, Diane Wilson of Rochester, MN, Debra (John) Lair of Miami Beach, FL, Nancy (Mike) Borchardt of Plymouth, IA; brothers, Jerome (Edna) Werner of Pensacola, FL, Kevin (Becky) Werner of Mason City, IA; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Werner; grandparents, John and Julia Werner, Lawrence and Louise Milbrandt.

A visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin, Minnesota. A memorial service will follow the visitation. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral home is limited to 57 people for the service. Interment will take place on a later date at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minnesota.
