Jon Perl

Jon Thomas "Perlie" Perl, age 57, of Austin, died Friday, June 24, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester of cancer. Jon was born February 16, 1954 in Austin to Norman H. and Mildred S. (Peterson) Perl. He attended Pacelli and Austin High Schools. Jon also attended Southwest Community College in Mankato and received an Associate Degree in Art. He enjoyed sketching, photography and creating beautiful pieces of art out of rocks and stones. Jon worked for the Rochester Post Bulletin and Schmidt Printing in Rochester and Byron. Survivors include his daughter, Dacia Bentzin, and four grandchildren, Jace, A'Janary, Jaiyana, Jeriun. He also helped to raise Dena and Donia Bentzin. Other survivors include his mother, Mildred Perl, Austin; brothers, David, Austin, Michael (Ann), Manhatten, KS, Stephen, Mankato; sisters, Carol Jean (Thomas) Krause, Normal, IL, Mary Jane Johnson, Austin; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his father. Memorial services will be held 12:00 pm on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Mayer Funeral Home with Father Dale Tupper officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Wednesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
