Jeanne A. Meineke, age 85, of Austin, died at home on Saturday, March 10, 2012. Jeanne was born April 22, 1926 in Atlanta, Georgia to Louis and Helen (Basquill) Thompson. She grew up in Atlanta where she graduated from high school. On July 27, 1946 she married Merton Meineke in Atlanta. Mert and Jeanne moved to Austin, Minnesota in 1946, where they settled down and raised 11 children. Jeanne was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. She pursued many interests in her lifetime including sewing, playing the piano, writing (poetry, letters and journals), reading (science, archeology and history), drawing, playing cards, and cooking. Survivors include her husband, Merton Meineke, Austin; daughter, SuAnne (Harold) Schloo, Bloomington; son, Calvin Meineke, Oak Park, IL; daughter, Teri Saxon, Muncie, IN; son, Tim (Vicki) Meineke, Greenville, NC; daughter, Katie (Joe) Myers, Cedar Rapids, IA; daughter, Dottie (Daryl) Johnson, Rochester; daughter, Molly Buland, San Jose, CA; daughter, Sara (Doug) Weckwerth, Austin; son, Joe (Sue) Meineke, Austin; daughter, Jane Meineke, Kasson; 37 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Norman) Wolin, Las Vegas, NV; brother, Barry (Carol) Thompson, New York; nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Tony Meineke. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:30 am on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. There will be a 6:30 pm wake service on Monday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4-7 pm. Memorials are preferred to the Humane Society. Condolences may be sent to www.mayerfh.com.
