James Robert Hunter, age 56, of Austin, died Monday, September 20, 2010 in Austin. James was born October 10, 1953 in Monroe, Michigan to Andrew and Sylvia (Larson) Hunter. He graduated from Austin High School and received and Bachelor's Degree from St. Cloud State University. On June 13, 1981 he was united in marriage to Barbara Gerlach in Austin. Jim served in the United States Army. He was an accountant and a member at River Oaks Golf Club. Jim enjoyed golfing, biking, playing cards, walking, woodworking, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hunter, Austin, MN; children, Carl Hunter, Rochester, MN, Amanda Hunter, Austin, MN, Cameron Hunter, Austin, MN (attending Winona State University); brothers, John (Cindy), Lakeville, MN, Paul (Jan), Waseca, MN, David, Austin, MN; sisters, Dorothy (Vern) Erickson, Golden Valley, MN, Diane (Chuck) Frost, Mankato, MN; brother-in-law, Dale Menten, Excelsior, MN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Sylvia Hunter; sisters, Sandra McAllister and Ruth Menten. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. There will be a 7:30 pm wake service on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 5-8 pm. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #91. Those attending are requested to dress with color for this Celebration of Life. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
