James Michael Dunlop, age 76, of Austin James died peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Home surrounded by five of his children. He was born on May 6, 1943 in Austin, MN to parents, Hugh and Engelberta (Winkels) Dunlop. Jim married the love of his life, Judy Ann Powers of Brewster, MN on June 25, 1966 at Sacred Heart Church of Brewster. James and Judy raised their family in Austin where Jim worked at JCPenney and Joseph Construction Company. Jim became interested in the home improvement field and in 1974 opened the business, Dunlop Vinyl Sash which sold and installed vinyl windows and doors. James ended his career at Sun Room Concepts in Albert Lea as the Lead Sales Manager and Installation Instructor. Jim was active in many communities. He was a proud member of the Lions Club and was honored to be a District Governor in 2014/2015. Jim’s passion was his 1960 Pontiac Bonneville “The Grape Pretender” which won numerous awards and kept “Jimmy Mack” active in the “Wanderer’s Car Club” and “Back to the 50’s” community. Jim had an amazing presence in the Austin community. He was a lifelong member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church and was often seen at the Eagles and Moose Clubs. He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy who passed on January 6, 1999; parents; brother, Bob Dunlop; sister, Deb Horejsi; special friend, Dee Wilmot. He will be greatly missed and is survived by his six children, Michael, Michelle, Melissa, Jeni (Wade Drees), Jason (Amanda) and Katie (Joe) Cook; 17 grandchildren; one great grandchild; siblings, Barbara (John) Felten, Marjorie Petersen, Jack (Marlys) Dunlop, Nancy (Cliff) Reed, Tom (Lisa) Dunlop; sister-in-law, Jeanette Dunlop; brother-in-law, Clarence Horejsi; many loving relatives and friends. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Tuesday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the Mass at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
