Hildegarde Golden

Hildegarde M. Golden, age 103, of Austin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Sacred Heart Care Center. Hildegarde was born January 29, 1916 in Auburn Township, Fayette County, Iowa to Anthony and Christina (Duclos) Huinker. She came to Austin at an early age and worked at the Hormel plant until marrying Charles F. Golden on March 26, 1938. She and Charles lived on the Hormel Estate until 1956. Hildegarde was an excellent seamstress and often made clothing for Mrs. Jay C. Hormel. For many years she had a business sewing drapes. Hildegarde volunteered whenever she could at Queen of Angels Church and was a Pink Lady at St. Olaf Hospital. She loved games and cards of any kind and was an accomplished bridge player, the card game she loved most of all. In her later years, Hildegarde enjoyed playing cards and doing picture puzzles at the care center. Hildegarde always had a smile for everyone. She will be deeply missed. Survivors include her son, Tom (Marjorie) Golden, Henderson, NV; daughter, Kathryn Krull, Austin, MN; sister, Rosemary Cook, Rochester, MN; three grandchildren, Josh, Austin, MN, Judd, Germany, Heidi, Rochester, MN; six great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; five brothers; three sisters; son-in-law, John Krull. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 am on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Raul Silva officiating. Friends may call one hour before the Mass at the church. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
