Herman Schmidt

Herman Albert Schmidt, age 70, formerly of Dexter, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Fieldcrest Care Center in Hayfield. Herman was born May 3, 1939 in Iowa to John and Lydia (Schoenrock) Schmidt. Herman built tractors, worked with construction equipment and was a master mechanic. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include two children, Rhonda (Joel) Christiansen, Independence, Mn, Brad (Mary) Schmidt, Hayfield, Mn; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Sydney, Danielle, Samuel, William; sister, Evelyn (Clayton) Haupt, Walnut Port, PA; brother, Ervin (Lorna) Schmidt, Stewartville, Mn. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alfred Schmidt; son, Mark Schmidt. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Pat Toschak officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 pm on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Dexter. The honorary casket bearers will be Stuart Ellingson, Don Holmen, Charles Kirchner, Noel Luedtke, Dave Braaten. The casket bearers will be Ellsworth Ellingson, Marvin Ellingson, Benjamin Schmidt, Steven Schmidt, Craig Unverzagt, John Kiser Jr.
