Henry Shawback, Jr.

Henry Richard “Hank” Shawback, Jr., age 86 of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, March 31, 2019 at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie surrounded by his loving family.  Born May 14, 1932 to Getta (Gilbertson) and Henry William Shawback, Sr., Hank grew up near Hayfield where he graduated from high school in 1951.  He married Arlis Robertson on June 7, 1958 in Ellendale.  To this union five children were born.  Hank worked at Owatonna Canning Company for 22 years.  After his retirement in 1991 he worked for area farmers.  A member of the Owatonna Eagles, Hank enjoyed gardening, mowing his lawn and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Arlis Shawback of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; children, Dale (Teresa) Shawback of Manchester, Minnesota; Julie Halla of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; Lucy (Scott) Adank of Stratford, Wisconsin; Duane (Nikki) Shawback of Albert Lea, Minnesota and Gary Shawback of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; fifteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Arthur (LaVonne) Shawback of Austin, Minnesota; Raymond Shawback of Texas; Cathy Shawback; of Blooming Prairie, MN, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee (Gladys) Shawback; John (Chlorice) Shawback; Joseph (Evelyn) Shawback; Merv (Helen) Shawback; Leslie Shawback; sisters, Marion Peterson; Carol (Donald) Decker, brother-in-law, Neil Robertson; sisters-in-law, Phyliss Shawback; Lilah Robertson.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, at the Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home, and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
