Helen Budd

Helen M. (Ulwelling) Budd, age 93, formerly of Austin, passed away Friday morning, May 11, 2012 at Golden Living Center East in Rochester. Helen Marguerite Ulwelling was born July 28, 1918 to Henry and Sadie (Sathre) Ulwelling in Austin. Helen married Gerald P. Budd on June 7, 1938 and the couple moved around the country during the war. They moved back to Austin in 1946 and Helen was the bookkeeper in Gerald's plumbing service for many years. The Budds moved to Ball Club, Minnesota in 1965 when they bought the "Ball Club Lake Lodge." Following Gerald's death on February 14, 1989, Helen moved to Rochester in 1990. Helen was involved in the Boy Scouts for many years while her sons were active in the Scouts. For many years, she was an active Twins fan and loved playing bingo. While in Austin, Gerald and Helen were well known for their Halloween parties. Survivors include her son, Warren (Laurel) Budd, Rochester; five grandsons and one granddaughter; 12 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; many nieces and one nephew. In addition to her husband, Gerald, she is preceded in death by her son, Roger. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 2:00 pm on Friday, May 18, 2012 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The casket bearers will be Crystal Budd Opse, Sterling Budd, Keith Budd, Garrett Budd, Kenneth Laskewitz and Randy Laskewitz. Arrangements by Mayer Funeral Home.
