Helen F. Lenz, age 99 of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin. Helen Frances Mills was born in McGregor, Iowa, to Victor and Margaret (LoRang) Mills on May 25, 1919. She graduated from high school in McGregor, Iowa. She then went on to attend Winona State University to become a teacher. On June 1, 1946, Helen was united in marriage to Albert Lenz in Austin, Minnesota. To this union three children were born; Mary, Donald, and Marlys. Helen loved her role as homemaker, wife, and mother. She was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and enjoyed reading, gardening, and crossword puzzles. Helen was well loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her three children, Mary (John) Ostertag of Plover, Wisconsin, Donald (Linda) Lenz of Austin, Minnesota, Marlys Sorlie of Backus, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Laura Speltz, Katie Chapman, Jana Lenz, Matt Thorsheim, Matt Lenz, Andy Ostertag; 10 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, Anthony Arndt, Angela Winkler, and Lonnie Arndt; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kathleen Ertz of Galesville, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Margaret Mills; husband, Albert Lenz; brother, Bud Mills; and son-in-law, David Sorlie.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00(Noon) on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday. Memorials can be directed to the Austin Public Library or recipient of donor’s choice. Services are prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
