Harriet Mae Ivers

Harriet Mae Ivers, age 89, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at South Grove Lodge Senior Living in Austin, Minnesota. Harriet was born on August 25, 1935, in Buffalo, Minnesota to Erwin and Mabel (Bergstrom) Olson. She graduated from Buffalo High School in 1953. On June 27, 1959, Harriet married the love of her life, Edward Ivers, in Buffalo. The couple was blessed with four sons. The couple subsequently moved to Austin in 1961 where Harriet worked for various banks, the Farmers Home Administration for 12 years, and for five years as office manager for Beth Bednar at North American Mat. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, hardanger, fishing, and camping. She was a member of the Keepsake Quilters Club and served as a 4-H leader. Harriet was a long-time member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Austin where she was a very active member of the funeral committee and past treasurer of WELCA.

Harriet is survived by four sons, Steven (Rosalie) Ivers of Austin, Minnesota, David (Joan) Ivers of Pemberton, Minnesota, Daniel Ivers of Greenfield, Indiana, James (Elizabeth) Ivers of Thompson, North Dakota; Honorary Daughter, Twyla Balstad, Austin Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Corey), Kelly (Andrew), Michael (Kelsey), Samantha, Tessa, Colton, Alanna (Matthew), and Gretchen; great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Marjorie Ivers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Mabel Olson; husband, Edward in 2024; brother, Murley and (Jean) Olson of Buffalo, Minnesota; great-granddaughter, Madilyn Cords; and brother-in-law, Harold Ivers.

A memorial service for Harriet will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Saetersdal Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Harmony, Minnesota. Memorials are preferred to Gillette Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald house, Rochester MN, or Saetersdal Cemetery Association or recipient of donor’s choice. Services are prearranged and performed by Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin.
