Franklin Robert Tomaschko (Frank), age 84, of Austin, died Monday, May 3, 2010 at Homestead House Hospice, Owatonna. Franklin Robert (Frank) was born Nov. 29, 1925 in New Ulm, MN to Raymond & Lorene (Stroschein) Tomaschko. He graduated from New Ulm Public High School, joined the US Navy in 1943 and served until 1946. He attended Austin Junior College and graduated from the University of Minnesota. Frank was employed at Northwest Air Lines until 1952. He then moved to Austin and was employed by the Hormel Corporation where he worked for 33 years. In 1952 he married Alice Heiny, daughter of Ruth (Rossiter) and Ivan Heiny. Their daughter, Kathi was born in 1955 and son Robert in 1957. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Alice, daughter Kathi Hill (Richard) of Kalispell, MT, son Robert (Linda) of Maple Grove, MN, sister-in-law Marjorie (Ivan) Heiny of Austin, MN and his extended family; Dean Heiny of New London, MN, the Jan & Jack Waller and Bruce & Danielle Heiny families of Austin, MN, Mary Heiny of Seattle, WA and the Stroschein & Tomaschko cousins of the Twin Cities area. The Memorial Service will be held at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 2103 SW 8th Street, Austin, Thursday, May 6 at 11:00 A.M, with Pastor David Fleischman presiding. The family may be greeted at the church one half hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, American Red Cross, or Homestead House Hospice, Owatonna, MN. Arrangements by Mayer Funeral Home.
