Eunice Harris

Eunice Maxine Harris died Friday, January 6th, 2017 in Monroe, Michigan at the age of 100 years old. Eunice was born November 22nd, 1916 to Carl Edwin and Nellie Charlotte [Peterson] Easton in Freeborn County near Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. Eunice graduated Blooming Prairie High School at the age of 16 skipping two grades in school. She went on to attend Business College in Mankato, Minnesota. Eunice married DeLos Harris on May 5th, 1945 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. DeLos finished his service duty in California & then they moved back to Minnesota. Eunice worked as a secretary at Wilson & Company in Albert Lea, Veteran Service Office & the Norwest [US Bank] in Austin. Eunice's hobbies were cooking, gardening, geneaology & quilting. She published three geneaology books. In May, 2000, she traveled to Norway. She saw the three farms her grandparents had been born on & met family. Eunice moved to be closer to her daughter & family in Michigan at Christmas , 2011. Eunice was still a formidable opponent in checkers with her oldest great grandson, Dirk, well into her upper nineties & enjoyed tea parties with her oldest granddaughter, Danica. Eunice is survived by her daughter, JoAnn & her husband Russell Griebel, two grandchildren, Nicole Griebel Schnebele & her husband, Jens Christian, Zachary Russell & his wife, Elizabeth Ping Griebel & five great-grandchildren, Dirk, Derek, Danica, Delilah & Dietrich Griebel. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband [DeLos], brother [Harlan], sister in law [Pearl Harris] & brother in law [Roger Harris]. Memorial Services will be held 10:30 am on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Pastor Karen Behling officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Cedar City Cemetery.
