Eula Reshetar, of Austin, MN, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at North Memorial Hospice in Robbinsdale, MN. She suffered a stroke and sustained injuries in a fall while on vacation in northern Minnesota with her entire family. She was born in rural Lyle, MN, on May 2, 1923, to Nordahl and Lenore (Olson) Nelson. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church. On June 5, 1945, she was united in marriage to Harry Reshetar. In the first year of their marriage they lived in North Carolina, where Harry served in the U.S. Army and Eula worked in a factory making parachutes to support the war effort. The rest of their married lives they lived in Austin, where Eula was a homemaker, mother to four children, and active member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the WELCA. She was known for her waterskiing abilities (until age 73), her warm friendship, and her caring ways. She loved to vacation at the lake with her extended family (this was her 55th year to go), do crafts for her church, and supply her family with lefse, apple pie and molasses cookies. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Harry Alan and wife Judy of Sioux Falls, SD, Jerry and wife JoAnn of St. Ansgar, IA, Craig of Melrose, WI, and son-in-law William Maxey of Owatonna, MN. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Heather (Kory) Christianson, Jennifer Reshetar, Shauna (Matt) Mignone, Michael (Mindy) Reshetar, Sarah (Ian) Moschenross, Karen Reshetar, and Joseph (Sarah) Maxey. There are also twelve great-grandchildren: Hanna, Nick and Heidi Christianson, Harrison Reshetar, Annie, Gracie, Kate and Henry Mignone, Luke, Matthew and Jackson Reshetar, and Eleanor Moschenross. She is also survived by sisters Charolette Feltz of Osage IA, Carol (Bob) Kraushaar of Austin, brother Chester (Barb) Nelson of Lyle, MN, sister-in-law Norma Nelson of Lyle, MN, and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry in 1988, her daughter Lori Maxey in 2007, brothers Leland, Norman, Gary, and sister Eileen Heard. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Monday, July 19, 2010 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Rev. Ron Barnett officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Sunday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Olaf Lutheran Church Building Fund, or the Hormel Institute Cancer Research Center.
