Elizabeth “Betty” Apold, age, 92 of Austin, died Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the Cedars of Austin. Betty was born June 20 1926, in Austin, Minnesota to Leonard Clay and Ruth E. (Peck) Heisey. She grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 1944. On August 3, 1946 she was united in marriage to Burdette D. Apold, at First United Methodist Church, until his death on July 27, 1969. Betty moved to St. Paul in 1973 until returning to Austin in June 2017. Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church in Austin and Hamline United Methodist in St. Paul. She was active in Beta Sigma Phi, Austin YMCA, and Girl Scouts. Betty enjoyed golfing, sewing, crafts and gardening. She is survived by two daughters; Cindy Countz of Lakeville, MN and Nancy (Jim) Heimer of Austin, MN; six grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband “Birdy”, and brother Leonard Claire Heisey. A Memorial Service for Elizabeth"Betty" Apold will be held at 11 am on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Hamline Church. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the American Heart Association.
