Duane Wayne Wohl, age 76 of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, formerly of South Dakota, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 at his home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Blooming Prairie, MN with Pastor Matthew Fennell officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior Friday at the church. Refreshments will be provided after the service. Interment will be in South Dakota at a later date.
Duane was born on March 19, 1942 in Fort Yates, North Dakota, to Ernest and Pauline (Horning) Wohl. Duane grew up in McLaughlin, South Dakota, and on June 7, 1964 married Marilyn Hetterley. Together the couple had two children, Devin and Gena. They had resided in McLaughlin, South Dakota, Redfield, South Dakota and Lemmon, South Dakota before moving to Renner, South Dakota in 1993.
On January 19, 2018, Duane and Marilyn moved to Blooming Prairie, Minnesota to be closer to their daughter and family. He attended the First Baptist Church in Blooming Prairie. Duane was an avid car guy, and enjoyed motorcycling, camping and reading. He had a passion for helping friends and family with projects. Duane was a people person, who had a kind heart and loved family time.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marilyn, of Blooming Prairie, a son, Devin (Silke) Wohl of Germany, and a daughter, Gena (Jeremy) McGillivary of Kasson, MN; three grandchildren, Torey Wohl, Kaiden McGillivary, and Riley McGillivary; two brothers, Larry Wohl of Spokane, WA, Van (Sue) Wohl of Reardan, WA; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Special members included into the family are: Lois Oberlander-Condie, ShashiKanth SN and family, and Sakurako (Naoki) Kudo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Pauline Wohl; and one younger brother, Arlyn.
