Donald “Donny” Joseph Glynn, age 85, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie. Donny was born December 31, 1938, in Waseca, Minnesota, to Eugene and Mary (Conway) Glynn. He graduated high school in Janesville, Minnesota and in 1956 entered into the United States Navy, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1959. Donny was united in marriage to Deloris Proulx on April 20, 1963, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with four children. From 1980 until 1985, the couple lived in Arkansas before making their forever home in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. Over the years, Donny worked as a supervisor for Owatonna Tool Company, plant manager for Truth Hardware, and also with Gandy Company. He was a member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Blooming Prairie Servicemen’s club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, and spending time with his family. Donny will be remembered for his famous one liner “What’s new”.

Survivors include his children, Pam (Roger) Smith of Ellendale, MN, Tom (Barb) Glynn of Owatonna, MN, Bill (Kaye) Glynn of Beebe, AR, and Rita (Mike) Johnson of Blooming Prairie, MN; grandchildren, Jessica (Will) McAfee, Ben (Leah) Smith, Jessica (Sam) Pietsch, Maddie Glynn, Allie Glynn, Hannah (Todd) Mills, Garrett (Lilly) Glynn, Morgan (Zach) Johnson, Hope (Devin) Johnson, and Jenna Johnson; great-grandchildren, Eathon McAfee, Griffin McAfee, Ava McAfee, Connor Godfrey, Grant Pietsch, Vivian Glynn, and baby Smith on the way; 10 siblings, including his twin brother, Denny (Mary Alice) Glynn of Faribault, MN, Mary Alice (Jerry) Lang of St. Clair, MN, Clete (Sharon) Glynn of Blooming Prairie, MN, Helen (Richard) Ward of Mankato, MN, Audrey (John) Bennett of Otsego, MN, Maigread (John) Vetter of New Ulm, MN, Ray (Lana) Glynn of Mankato, MN, Joe (Cathy) Glynn of Waseca, MN, Gene (Julie) Glynn of Waseca, MN, Erin Glynn of Minneapolis, MN; siblings-in-law, Lucy Glynn and Carol Glynn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris Glynn in 2021; parents, Eugene and Mary Glynn; infant son, Michael Glynn in 1968; three siblings, Michael Glynn, John Glynn, Colleen (Donald) Loftus, and a brother in infancy, Eugene Glynn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie. A prayer service will begin at 3:30 p.m. with a rosary service following at 3:45 p.m. prior to the visitation from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie and will continue for one hour prior to Mass at the church on Monday. Interment will be in St. Columbanus Cemetery, rural Blooming Prairie. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie is assisting the family with arrangements.
