Dolores “Laurie” Ann Berg, age 94, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Methodist Campus. Laurie was born in Otranto Township, Iowa to Robert and Anna (Lau) Ewald. She grew up with four siblings in a farming family. Laurie graduated from Albert Lea High School and soon after married the love of her life, Robert G. Berg on June 12, 1949, in Los Angeles, California. They soon moved back to Minnesota and started their family, first living in Faribault and then residing in Austin for most of their life. Following retirement, they enjoyed spending many winters in Green Valley, Arizona. The couple moved to Rochester, Minnesota to be closer to family in 2020. Laurie was a social person who made friends whenever she went. She enjoyed sending cards and letters to family and friends, meeting up with girlfriends, ballroom dancing, camping, and traveling. Laurie was an excellent homemaker, and her family loved her cooking and baking. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her loving family who now find some peace knowing she had a long, full life and that she will be reunited with her beloved husband. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her two daughters, Janice (Dale) Thorn and LuAnn Kasak; two sons, Michael (Mary) Berg and James (Tessa) Berg; grandchildren, Robert (Andrea) Kasak, Kelly (Brent) Nosbush, Abby (Ryan) Jackson, Tyler Thorn, and Madalyn Berg; two great grandchildren, Matthew and Porter Kasak; sister, Marilyn Grasdalen; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Ewald. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; daughter-in-law, Barbara Berg; grandson, Daniel Berg; sisters, Maxcene (Fremont) Henle and Arlene (Kenneth) Williamson; brother, Robert Glen Ewald; and brothers-in-law, Paul Grasdalen and Thomas Berg.
