Diane B. Johnson, age 62 of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at her home in Rochester. Diane Beverly King was born on April 8, 1957, in Austin, Minnesota, to William and Ilene (Sorenson) King. She grew up in Minnesota and was baptized at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Austin. Diane graduated from Austin High school in 1975. Following high school, she started a family with Donald DeFor and the couple got married on October 25, 1975 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. The couple later divorced. On June 23, 1986, Diane married Charles “Skip” Johnson at Yellowstone National Park. They later divorced. Diane worked as a care taker in a nursing home, and later worked as a house keeper at Kahler Grand Hotel. In 1987, she moved to Florida, where she worked as a county clerk. In 1995, she resided back to Minnesota. The time she enjoyed most was crafting, scrap booking, baking, reading and fishing. Diane will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her mother, Ilene King of Austin, Minnesota; son, Daniel DeFor of Austin, Minnesota; brothers, William (Sheila Hastings) King of Austin, Minnesota, David King of Austin, Minnesota; special friend, Anthony (Custer) Kelly of Rochester, Minnesota; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, William King.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, 204 1st Ave NW, Austin, MN 55912, with Rev. Marilee Benson officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Little Cedar Cemetery, Adams, Minnesota. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
