Delores E. Rasmussen, age 90, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Sacred Heart Care Center surrounded by her family. Born September 12, 1929 in Lindsay, Nebraska to parents Theodore and Mathilda (Kurtenbach) Ramaekers. She attended schools in Lindsay and Elgin, Nebraska and in 1943 the family moved to Iowa. Delores attended school in Scranton, Iowa and graduated from St. Angela Academy in Carroll, Iowa in 1947. After graduation she became a Registered Dental Assistant working at a dental office in Carroll. She married James Rasmussen at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll on February 6, 1950. The couple resided in Carroll until 1958 then moved to Marshalltown, Iowa. In 1960 they moved to Austin Minnesota where Delores lived out the rest of her life. Delores was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Rosary Society at St. Augustine, and volunteered countless hours for the church. Her purpose in life was loving and caring for her children. Delores was an avid reader, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and was a great sports fan especially the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. She was a skilled seamstress and an excellent cook and known for her “Sunday dinners”. Delores was a selfless and caring person always putting others needs before her own. She had the gift of conversation and had many dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Mathilda Ramaekers; sister, Marie Schmitz; two brothers, Greg and Jim Ramaekers; husband, James Robert Rasmussen; and son, Scott James Rasmussen. She is survived by children, Theodore, Peter, Mary (Roger) Larson, Joseph (Nancy), Jane (Bruce) Beery, Patrick, Judy Rasmussen (Dale) Spitzer, Elizabeth (Sean) Miland; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Jerry (Joann) Ramaekers, Helen Marget, Tom Ramaekers, Ozzie Ramaekers, Madonna Riesberg, and Jack (Kathy) Ramaekers. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 am on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father James Steffes officiating. Friends may call 1/2 hour before the service at the church. Delores will be buried beside her husband Jim at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
