David Allen Mortensen Sr.

David Allen Mortensen, Sr., age 79, of Adams, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Cedar Court, Adams, Minnesota. David was born on August 31, 1945, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Glenn Mortensen, Sr. and Mildred (Paulson) Mortensen. He attended school in Austin. David married Mary Diane Brunner in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1965. They had one son, David Jr., in April of 1967. They later divorced. He then married Marlene (Molly) Farnsworth on September 21, 1974, and they had one son, Edward, in 1977, and one daughter, Tammy, in 1976. David worked many years with his father in Mortensen Upholstery until his father died on December 31, 1981. He later worked for nine to ten years with Independent Dispenser Novelties at many fairs from Minnesota to Iowa, Kansas, and Texas. David lived at Cedar Court in Adams, Minnesota, for nine years. 

David was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene, on September 28, 2010; his parents, Glenn Sr. and Mildred; two brothers, Arthur as an infant, and Glenn, Jr. in 1981; two sisters, Patricia as an infant, and Barbara in 2004 from cancer. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Jessen and family, of Austin; children, David Mortensen, Jr. of Onamia, MN, Tammy Mortensen Potter, and Edward Mortensen Potter; three grandchildren, Katreena Mortensen, Jesse Mortensen and Kaylia Larsen of Onamia, MN; brothers-in-law, Myron Morgan of Byron, MN and Merwyn Morgan of Lyle, MN; and many other loving relatives and friends. 

A memorial gathering will be held from 1:00-2:00 pm on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 pm in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Lyle Cancer Telethon or Adams Nursing Home Assisted Living. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
