Darlene Culton

Darlene E. Culton, age 72, of Austin, died Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at her home. Darlene was born November 25, 1946 in Austin to Everett and Edna (Peach) Ulwelling. She grew up in Austin and graduated from Pacelli High School. Darlene then went on to nursing school where she received her LPN license. She worked as a nurse at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin (Mayo Clinic Health System) for nearly 30 years before retiring. Darlene was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family. He hobbies included bowling where she was a member of the Women’s 600 Club, and baking and decorating cakes. She enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas with friends. Darlene loved to play bingo. Survivors include her three children, Alan Schumacher, Kimberley Grabau, and Michael (Terry) Schumacher, all of Austin; four grandchildren, Brendan, Bryton, Zack, and Garett; two sisers, Nancy (Frank) Novotny, Austin, Linda Brown, Janesville, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Edna Ulwelling; husband, Gary Culton; daughter, Rebecca. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am on Monday, April 8, 2019 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father James Steffes officiating. Friends may call from 3-6 pm on Sunday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church on Monday.
