Dale Ralph Rossow, age 91, of Dexter, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at home. Dale was born June 22, 1920 in Lohrville, Iowa to Harry and Henrietta (Zaiger) Rossow. He lived in Iowa until 1933 when he moved to Dexter, Minnesota with his parents where they continued to farm, as they brought their Black Angus Herd with them to Minnesota. He graduated 8th grade in 1933. Dale enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 1941 where he served as a blacksmith in Samoa, Guadalcanal, Battle of Saipan (2nd wave), and also in the Korean War. Dale married Thelma Marie Miller on February 17, 1956. They made their home in Dexter. They attended Zion Lutheran Church in rural Dexter. He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, and the Masons. Dale enjoyed making rope, shopwork, going on car rides (always on the go), reading (geology was one of his favorite subjects), and sawmill work. Survivors include his son, Mike (Vicki) Rossow, Dexter; three granddaughters, Marcie Rossow, Dexter, Lynda Rossow, Dexter, Abby Rossow, Dexter; two great grandsons, Cole Kildahl and Jud Rossow-Atzl. He is preceded in death by his parents; infant sister; wife, Thelma Marie Rossow. Memorial services will be held 2 pm on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter with Pastor Lyle Aadahl officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Military rites will be by American Legion Post #140. Arrangements by Mayer Funeral Home.
