Cynthia A. Welke, 61Cynthia Anne (Weinard) Welke, 61, of Austin, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.Cindy was born July 22, 1949 in Minneapolis to Richard and Anne Weinard. She grew up in Minneapolis, where she graduated high school.On July 22, 1966, she married Joseph A. Welke. They made their home in Minneapolis, eventually moving to Austin, where Joe began his career at Hormel. Cindy has been employed by Austin Medical Center as a registered nurse for 27 years. Their 44-year marriage produced three children and was filled with dedication to work, love and laughter.Cindy's favorite place to be was on a beach in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico enjoying the warm sun, sand and ocean breeze, a cold margarita, while watching Joe playing volleyball in the company of friends and family.Survivors include her husband Joe, daughter Amy (Tim) Johanns and sons Joseph (Lisa) Welke Jr. and Jeremy (Jenni) Welke, grandsons Brandon and Jordan Castro, Morgan Pratt and Cole Welke, brother Richard Weinard, sisters-in-law Mary (Rich Bleyhl) Welke, Carol (David) Lewis, brother-in-law Albert (Stephanie) Welke Jr. and nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Terry Weinard.Visitation will be held from 3 - 6 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:30 at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin on Saturday, January 22.Her ashes will be taken to Nuevo Vallarta at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Cindy's name to the American Cancer Society or Austin Humane Society. Donations to the family will be offered to these organizations.
