Curtis Clarence Lee

Curtis Clarence Lee, age 80, of Owatonna, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at his home. Curtis was born February 9, 1945, in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, to Clarence and Helen (Hargefeld) Lee. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. Curtis attended country school and graduated from Claremont High School in 1963. Following graduation, he worked at Claremont Creamery before entering into the United States Army in 1964. Shortly after his honorable discharge from the service in 1966, Curtis was involved in a serious car accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury, which significantly impacted his life. After a lengthy hospitalization, Curtis resided in various group homes, eventually moving to Elm Homes in Owatonna in the early 1990s. Curtis enjoyed going out to eat, listening to country and polka music, and as a kid, loved animals.

Survivors include his sisters, Maxine Sorenson of Owatonna, Minnesota, Barbara (Leighton) Nelson of Rochester, Minnesota, and Verna (Tom Bartholomew) Kubat of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; nieces and nephews, Mark (Doris) Kubat, Bryan (Kathy) Sorenson, Kandee (Chris DuRose) Timmerman, and Janell Nelson; great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Helen Lee; brother, Clyde, who was killed in Vietnam in 1967; and brother-in-law, Donald Kubat.

Curtis’ family would like to extend a special thank you to Elm Homes and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care they took of him.

A funeral service for Curtis will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Blooming Prairie City Cemetery. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
