Cecil Vernon Dahlgren, age 89, of Austin, died Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Sacred Heart Care Center. Cecil was born February 28, 1921 in Walsh County, near Adams, North Dakota to William and Clara (Norquist) Dahlgren. He attended High School in Fairdale and went on the State School of Science. Vern served in the United States Army Air Force for three years. On May 9, 1950 he was united in marriage to Beverly Elaine Deist at Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He worked as an auto body repairman at the Ford Dealership for 30 years, was a member of the American Legion and UAW. Vern restored many cars for the family and built a motorhome from a van, he also built a garage. He loved traveling, Bluegrass music, fairs, parades and sports-including going to an All Star game. He was a Jack Of All Trades. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Dahlgren, Austin; children, Juli (Don) Hobson, Taylors Falls, MN, Donald Dahlgren, Stockholm, Sweden, Robert Dahlgren, San Jose, CA; five grandchildren, Maria, Brittany, Hanna, Daniel, Camille. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Clara Dahlgren; sister, Helen Gunhus; son, David Jens Dahlgren; grandson, Preston James Hobson. A gathering to remember the life of Cecil Vernon Dahlgren will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Mayer Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Monson officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 am until the time of the gathering at Mayer Funeral Home on Saturday. Military rites will be by American Legion Post #91.
