Catherine "Tassie" (Kasel) Dinneen, age 97, of Rose Creek, died Monday, January 11, 2011 at Auburn Manor in Chaska, Minnesota. She was born June 12, 1913 in Taopi, Minnesota to Peter and Anna Kasel, one of four children. She married Nicholas Dinneen on October 15, 1938 at Sacred Heart Church in Adams, Minnesota. They lived their entire life together in Rose Creek. Catherine's life was very full. She raised five children fulfilling her life wish to be a wife and mother. Catherine was a wonderful cook and her family and friends enjoyed many of her tasty treats, especially her homemade bread and noodles. Catherine celebrated life by making holidays very special for her family. She loved playing cards, bingo, crocheting, knitting, reading, golf, bowling, traveling with family and being with her grandchildren who all have special memories of time spent with her. Most of all, Catherine loved fishing-on the dock, in the boat and ice fishing. Many wonderful years were spent at the cabin on French Lake. Catherine's faith was an integral part of her life. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She was a strong support and cheerleader for her children and grandchildren and was very proud of all that they achieved. The family wishes to thank Auburn Manor for giving Catherine dignity and wonderful care in the last seven months of her life and also Hospice of the Twin Cities for the final weeks of her journey. Survivors include her son, Nicholas (Kathleen), San Antonio, TX; daughters, Diane Horn (Russ), Chippewa Falls, WI, Theresa Grosser, Duluth, MN, Mary Shaw (Bob), Duluth, MN, Patty Ormson (Mitch), Chaska, MN; 18 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nick; two sisters; one brother; son-in-law, Tom Grosser. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9:00 am on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rose Creek with Father Tom Loomis officiating. There will be a 5:30 pm wake service on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 3-6 pm and also 1/2 hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Memorials may include St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the American Cancer Society.
