Betty Jean Wagner, age 88, of Austin, died Monday, August 21, 2017 at Sacred Heart Care Center. Betty was born April 19, 1929 in Rochester, Minnesota to Olaf and Dorothy Christopherson. The family moved to Austin where she grew up and attended Columbus Grade School and St. Augustine High School. She graduated from high school in 1947 and worked as a legal secretary in the law office of Plunkett & Plunkett. Betty married Thomas Wagner on September 30, 1950 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. They made their home in Austin where they raised their family of seven children. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, volunteering, refinishing furniture, and going to the casinos. Survivors include two daughters, Ann (Orin) Hanson, Brooklyn Park, MN, Sara (Joe) Eastman, Grand Rapids, MN; daughter-in-law, Shari Wagner, Champlin, MN; four sons, Daniel (Sue) Wagner, Longmont, CO, Greg (Wendy) Wagner, Longmont, CO, Chris (Anne) Wagner, Bloomington, MN, Patrick Wagner, Chandler, AZ; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom; her son, Steve; her parents; three brothers; a sister-in-law; a niece. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Raul Silva officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Private interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Care Center and Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Condolences may be left online at www.mayerfh.com
