Barbara Jean Nemitz

Barbara Jean Nemitz, 70, died Friday morning, March 11, 2011, surrounded by her children, at Our House in Austin. She was born July 30, 1940 in Austin to George and Edith (Robinson) Zender. She graduated from St. Augustine High School and attended St. Theresa's College in Winona. She married Gary Richard Nemitz on January 21, 1961 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2009. Barb and Gary resided in Austin their entire lifes. Barb was first and foremost a wife and mother. After the kids were grown she worked at the Lommen Clinic and for the Austin Public Schools. She was a devoted member of both St. Augustine and St. Edward's Catholic Churches. She and Gary were involved in a number of organizations in Austin, along with enjoying traveing, golfing and playing cards. She is survived by her five children, Debbie (Greg) Huckaby, Austin, Jan (Lon) Anderson, North Mankato, Jon "Hank"( Danette) Nemitz, Austin, Jim Nemitz, Austin and Steve (Charlene) Nemitz, Shakopee. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Haley and Gregory Huckaby, Cory and Ryan Anderson, Jennifer (Chase), Rayman, Jessica and Landon Nemitz, Matthew Nemitz, Kaitlyn, Lyndsay and Brady Nemitz. Brothers, Peter (Dorothy) Zender, Rose Creek and George "Butch" (Nancy) Zender, Aitkin, MN In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her in laws, Richard and Fern Nemitz and a sister-in-law, June Reinartz. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am on Monday, March 14, 2011 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Mayer Funeral Home.
